Sony HDR-AZ1 kit cheap on Newegg

It is a refurbished kit.
Refurbished: Sony HDR-AZ1VR 1080p POV HD Camcorder + Waterproof Case 16GB SD Card - White ? NeweggFlash.com

I have owned two of these from their introduction and I really like the small size and low weight. It also comes with the Live-View 2 remote.

It does lack mounting options, which I fixed for myself using 3D printed parts. and the battery is small as a result of the size (less than 2 hours recording per battery) and the underwater housing needs the front element replaced to work underwater (the curved lens distorts the image underwater).

I am just posting it because I thought someone on the fence might take advantage of this deal.

You may need to be registered with Newegg to see this deal as it is a NeweggFlash deal.

Looks cool. Regarding mounting options, can it be mounted easily on handlebars?

I'd like to have a camera with the Sony Exmor sensor;
It has the best night performance I've seen in reviews.
But dammit, every one I see is afflicted with those stupid 170 degree FOV lenses,
making everything look far away and warping anything that isn't in the center of frame.

I have the AV100, which has the same form factor. Handlebar mounting is cheap and easy, thanks to the Sony cams having a good old fashioned bayonet mount on the bottom. Before I fabricated a custom mount for mine, I just used one of these. If you have a bar that steps down, Minoura has a cool one.

Any mount with a 1/4" thread will fit.

If you look in the beginning of the 3D printed thread here you will see a mount designed for the AZ1 that gives you a direct GoPro attachment. The AZ1 form factor is smaller than all the over Sony action cams and uses an adapter (provided) to get to a 1/4" tripod socket.

I have this one and it's great. Comes with different inserts to prevent vibration and movement. So far it's held up great. Very happy with it.
