I suspect it might have this problem with other sensors, but they are normally awake for me before the 820 boots

-it doesn't turn itself off. I'm used to saving the ride when I get home and then not turning the unit off(in case I want to check heart rate). The 810 would turn itself off in5-10 mins, the 820 never did

I think DC Rainmaker discovered that you need to make an initial shift before the Di2 WiFi transmitter will send a signal. The Di2 unit doesn't seem to function like other BT or Ant devices, and Shimano's the 800 lbs gorilla that hasn't seen fit to change this.

Actually - something I'd like to see is a GPS like the 820 is a feature that could ID bad neighborhoods. I love new routes but when I'm out of town the 'find route' thing is useless. Somebody should come up with a database that considers home prices or town tax revenue to determine if you really want to ride through a place. Wouldn't be politically correct though but would be awesome. I accidentally skirted Camden NJ once and I was lucky to get out of there. Did wonders for my pace though - I gotta say.

It will Auto Sleep, but I can't find anything about auto power off.

Strava's Global Heat Map highlights routes favored by local GPS equipped cyclists, who I assume know enough to avoid sketchy areas.

It won't look for a power meter when the bike chosen doesn't have one in its sensor list.

I looked at the 820, but the edge 1000 has a lot more appeal to me especially with the feature where you can ask the unit to plot a route for you which is cycle friendly. It gives you 3 random routes basedon the mileage that you request, showing the elevations etc ... there are more features that the 820 cannot do (as far as I am aware)

I know that there are still some bugs on the 1000, but they will eventually sort them out ... not much price difference between the 2 (if you shop around)

Yes, the Strava heat map is the way to go in finding the best places to ride in a location you're not too familiar with.

This is exactly what I did on Saturday with my 820.

Can anybody confirm that the 820 can display your current/instantaneous power and update it every second? The 800 only updates the display every 3 seconds for this, whether you have "power" or "3 second power" selected. Writes a new value to the log every second though.

I don't have a power meter...yet. I'm not sure about this one.

Edit: actually, my trainer transmits a power reading and is ant+, let me see if I can connect the two, I'll try it next time I get on the trainer this week.
