mr16 LED

I was googling to find what LEDs might cost (still haven't found a simple price), and found these that would plug into an existing lighthead I have:

http://www.besthongkong.com/product_...0bbe9cedebfcd6

It seems like 2 of them would start adding up to some light.

Oh wait, they require AC, not DC. Darn.

Stymied again! How about the simple 'flashlight for bike', instead?

Flashlight for Bike - 5pcs 40000mcd White LED
[FL-5W40] $7.95

Using 5x 5mm 40000mcd grade White LEDs
3 Steps Switch, Off, On, Flash
Using 4pcs AAA Battery
Hundred Hours of operating

Everything else seems to be for cars  .

CREE leds here:
http://www.theledlight.com/Cree-LED.html

I've also seen singles for sale on another type of heatsink on another website, but I can't remember where it was right off. I'll edit it here when I remember.....

Anyway----the prices at the other place was about the same as here, about $15 each with shipping.

Here's a couple of options...

I've ordered from them before, exellent customer service but you may do better price-wise from someone local to you.

http://www.dealextreme.com has Seoul and Cree LED's for rather good pricing. My mate just recieved a package of 3 x SSC stars and SSC bare emitters. Pricie is good but ships a little slower.

I doubt they require AC. LEDs are DC devices. Many are driven by a AC to DC convertor as voltage controlled DC is needed for good operation. You can get prepackaged LED based MR16 bi-pin bulbs that are designed for 12 volt service for a reasonable price, vaguely $1.00 per watt. Many good lamp and lighting supply stores can sell you an MR16 bulb holder that can be attached to your bike.

I've been happy with my 3W LED MR-16 from http://autolumination.com/mr16.htm, advertised at $15.99.
