    Cyclocomputers and sunlight

I've had two now, and they both warn against parking in sunlight. Unfortunately the first one would also go blank when riding in the sun, and never recover, I haven't given the second one that test yet. I wrote to Specialized about the first one, no response.

Does anyone have a fix to cut down on the failures while riding? I was thinking of installing one of these, but I don't think it will hold up.

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

LCDs don't like heat (actually no solid state electronics like heat, but LCD's are particularly sensitive). It seems to me that anything that blocked infrared but let through higher wavelengths would be helpful.

According to this link "The filters used in acetylene welding goggles absorb IR more than visible." Sounds like some plastic lensed welding goggles might be the makings of a sunshade...
