UK Source for Planet Bike Superflash?
 

I've been doing some research, but I'm just not finding any UK web (or other) sources for these lights. Winter's a comin', and I don't want to be too invisible. Can anyone help?

Biketiresdirect.com has them, but I don't know if they ship to the UK. With the dollar at an all time low, it should be pretty cheap for you. I thought it was bad when I was in London in February. A cheap fish and chips lunch at a pub cost me over $50 for two.

The Superflash is also sold under the Smart & Basta brandnames. Same product as the Planet Bike, just different brandname. Chain Reaction Cycles and ProBike Kit stock them.

If I'm not mistaken only the Planet Bike version has the distinctive flashing pattern, the SMART and Basta versions have a simple on/off flash.

Let's clear something up then - is it the brightness to cheapness ratio that makes the Superflash great, or the flashing pattern?

A bit of both. I have both the SuperFlash and the Mars 3.0. In terms of brightness they are about the same, with the Mars having a bit better daytime visibility, but at night my eyes are drawn to the SF due to it's odd flashing pattern.

With the dollar so damn low it might be worthwhile just to order a few SFs from someplace like AE Bike.

Hmmm. One of those UK sources talks about the centre light flashing, then the two other lights flashing, in an alternating sequence. Is that what we're talking about? They're £9.99 here, and $17.99 in the states, so once I've had it shipped, it's probably cheaper to buy it here, if it does the job.

Sounds like what my SuperFlash does. Another poster had written that the SMART light he bought in the UK didn't flash like the SF. Who knows, maybe it has been changed.

I can't comment on the SMART lights but the Basta Superflash has the distinctive flashing pattern. At least I think so. It's not just a simple on/off flashing but has a sequence to it.
