Garmin 305 Cadence sensor

My Cadence sensor came off my crank and is lost. Can I put a small magnet on the crank as a replacement or do I have to get a replacement from garmin?

If its the sensor, I would think you need a new one from Garmin. A magent won't transmit to the unit, but you can try & let us know.

The part on the crank is just a magnet. The sensor is on the frame stay.

If the sensor was on the crank that's your problem. The magnet goes on the crank. If it's the magnet, any magnet will work as a replacement.
