Bike Light: Niterider TriNewt or Cygolite TridenX?
I am interested in a high power LED set-up with SSC emitters (about as powerful as the Fenix Cree lights)
I have found a NiteRider Trinewt at about 500 lumens, with 3 LEDs and a Cygolite TridenX with 3 LEDs with around 500 lumens. Which would you rather get? Which is more reliable? I read some people with issues with the NiteRider products. Check out also the Dinotte 600L - that is 520-600 lumen, high powered LED system.

I'm looking at buying one of these too. I'm thinking the Cygolite TridenX will be the way to go.

Well I pulled the trigger and bought a TridenX tonight. I bought it from "Seasonal Outfitters" on Ebay for $229.99 (239.99 shipped). The seller still has 3 more at this price; FYI.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Cygolite-LED-TRI...QQcmdZViewItem I plan on running this as a bar light and using my Mininewt.X2 as a helmet light. I should have this light buy this Friday's local MTB night ride, I'll take some pics and let you all know what I think. Kev |
The runtime on high is a bit disappointing, otherwise I might consider it.

I have a couple of Dinotte 200L lights which I like very much. If I decide to go with something more powerful I'll likely pick up the Dinotte 600 L as the run time seem rather good. The workmanship is very good, and customer support is first rate. You may wish to check out their web page.

2.5 Hours is not bad, our avarge time is around 2 hours long. Plus on high the light = 500 lumens, so Im hoping on med/low the light will put out 200-300 lumens..... so we'll see. |
