for my $15 20-something-year-old Marin garage-sale mountain bike (orig. $600, he suggested $5, I offered $15 ) I had to come up with a lighting system fast.
I looked over the bike lights, and they all cost more than my bike (duh.)
I caught a bug and decided to look at flashlights. Sheets, I wasn't going to invest $20, $30, $40 in bike lights for a $15 rust-bucket (nice ride tho it turned out to be. ) So I taped a $5 Ray-O-Vac LED flashlight (complete with 3 AAA's) to the handlebars with electrician's tape (when you get this crazy, the electrician's tape starts to look expensive. )
Fast-forward to my recent visit to a nice bike shop. Looking at lights for another, much much much greater, bike, I asked the cool dude to test the $40 LED headlight. He let me take it in the men's room.
OK, I'm wondering how a $40 LED headlight is in the same league with my $5 Ray-O-Vac.

Sorry, I just gotta say; reading that was a bit of a Larry Craig moment.

There are a few bikes that would turn me on enough to take them into the men's room but I'm afraid a headlight would do nothing for me.
