It's the L2D and I wrapped a few inches of old tube around it and attached it to the helmet with a couple short strips of velcro. I like it a lot. It will supplement my Cygo Xtra. Before this I was using a cheaper $25 3 watt LED that worked well also. This Fenix though may be brighter than the Cygo, the jury's out on that yet for me. I think I will generally run it on the 2nd to highest setting. There is a warning about overheating on the high setting, is that a big concern?

If you are using the fenix when riding, using in turbo mode and overheating is not an issue. I have used the l2d in turbo for 2 hour+ rides with no issues..

Just get some good nimh batteries and a charger and you are set..

+1.

LaCrosse BC-900 or a Maha or a Ray-O-Vac PS3 depending upon your desire for technology, battery quantity, budget, etc.

I personally found the duracell 2650 nimh batteries to be the best performers. I use the vanson charger found here, it will charge aa, aaa, c, d and 9 volt.. walmart carries the duracells at 9.50 for 4 of them..

I just got my first ride with it. This thing is definitely the best buy out there. I could not be happier with it. I don't even need the turbo mode!

Go TURBO. With 2650mA, you should get 2hrs of runtime (if not more) and you'll love the light. No overheating issues for me, either, and I usually use it running, and in 60s temps. It stays cool to the touch, even after that long. Not even warm!

I have a Varta branded version of that charger and it tends of over heat and cook batteries. I switched to a Maha C-9000 and have had no overheating problems. If you look at the info on the site it states it's only good for AA up to 2500mAh.
