I have the p3d q5 and mine does not strobe unless, I have it on the strobe setting.
Are you batteries weak? I heard that when the batteries get low that it will flash.

Digitally regulated lights will often flicker slightly. Like traditional CRT tvs or old flourescent light ballasts, you can see it if you wave your finger in the light. Not really flickering, as in, "Oh it just blacked out for a second here" but more like a flicker in the 60 hz range.

I'm getting a L2D shipped here and I'll report when I get it. But I do know that my L&M Vega and my PB Superflash on steady mode does flicker or strobe at a very fast rate.

Have you found a way to modify your L&M Vega or are we just going to have to live with the old technology? I bought it for the convenience but have regretted not purchasing a more powerful halogen in the same price range. Things sure have advanced since I bought the Vega a year ago!

I haven't. That's why I bought an L2D yesterday, because the Vega just wasn't enough for what I wanted and the battery on the thing is dying. The most I'll use the Vega for now is as a more powerful flasher than a Cateye EL-300.

Well, my light got here today and it's freakin' powerful. However, I have not noticed any strobing effect of any kind. Not even the fast ~60 hz flickering that I had with my Vega. The light output is solid and continuous to my eyes at all levels except for the lowest setting, where there is an almost unnoticable high hz flicker, so there may be something wrong with your Fenix.

How long did your battery last before failure? I am in a second winter night riding season with my Vega. I have noticed that the light continues flashing green when it has been on the charger long enough to be fully charged instead of turning solid green and staying that way.

I think that I might have trashed the battery by leaving the light off the charger for about 3-5 months. It probably deep discharged, so while I've tried to run it down to cutoff and recharge fully, the battery is pretty messed up and won't give me more than 30 minutes on full. My light gives me a solid green but it sometimes stays flashing. I don't know what that means, but I've sworn off of proprietary sealed batteries that can't be replaced by my own hand.

I guess I had to live and learn. So much for $170.

I recently got the P3d. The flicker indicates the battery is dying.

The flicker on the P3D is the low battery warning. I think you can drop it to a lower setting (lower current draw) to allow the battery to put out enough voltage to avoid tripping the low battery flicker for a while.
