New lighting technology - amazing brightness

I think I understand what is trying to be said. These lights use microwave energy to make the gas in the bulb glow. NASA has been working with these, especially for hydroponic use in space. The 250 watt bulb would produce as much light as a 400 watt LED (if one were to exist that is). So the efficiency is really superb for these types of lights. LED technology is making leaps and bounds still and I suspect that this level of light output will be matched soon.
Can the miniaturize the microwave generator and light to be portable? We'll see. I suspect this will be a commercial/industrial technology and we will probably rely on LED for portable lighting.
