Dead cygolite - options?

I have a DualCross 200 that I got a couple of years ago, and I upgraded the emitters to get more light. Every month or so, I plug in my headlight to make sure it is still working, and I recharge the battery while I am at it. This afternoon I gave it a try, and got no light. On closer inspection, I noticed an odor of toasted electronics coming out of the head.

I disassembled the head and noticed a couple of things. One is that one of the wires leading to one of the emitters had come off. If that were the only problem, it would be easy to repair.

The more serious problem is that there is a toasted component on the driver board. It is beyond recognition, as a matter of fact, so I can't just order a part and replace it by itself. The driver circuit board has labels on it "SSB Inc USA" and "P/N 05-2164" - I tried a web search for this part, and came up empty..

Anyone have any other thoughts? I could send it back to Cygolite, but it is out of warranty (upgrading the emitters would have voided the warranty in any event), and they would probably charge a lot. Too, much most likely. Any other thoughts?

You could get a new driver and replace the cygolite one, if it fits. 3-30$ depending on what and from where... DX, boostpuck/buckpuck, taskled.com.
Yeah lots of drivers don't like being disconnected from the LEDs.
