Any Good Lights at Home Depot

I have a $50 gift card to Home Depot. My two choices are a nice LED light and some rechargeable batteries, ( to be used as a helmet light to supplement my Nightpro torch 15w 6v bar light) or a 25' coiled air hose and inflator for my work bench.

So, has anyone bought an LED light at HD that they like? Reccomendations?

Thanks.

Depends on what kind of light you're looking for. Small? Large? Long run time? Brightness?

There was a 2D Husky light ("4 watt" cree) that looked intriguing, but I don't know much about it. I'd guess it's fairly similar to the Task Force @ Lowes, just bigger.

As I want to use it with a lockblock on my helmet, I was thinking something at used 2 AA's as power source.

I have a Planet Bike Sport Spot that I use on the helmet now, so I would want to step up in performance from that light.

I was wondering is HD had anything along the lines of the Coleman Max that WalMart carries? My night rides seldom go over 2 hours. I have looked online and see nothing along those lines. Did not want to waste a bunch of gas hitting HD's to see what was out there.

Sadly, no. Nothing along those lines. The MAX line is exclusive to Walmart, it appears. You could look at the various "Energizer Hardcase" lights. I think they're starting to show up with Cree's now - but they're a little bulky for the typical light using the same cells.

Don't get the MiniMAG LED's (balky switches - not good for biking), the Coast stuff is usually overpriced for the power, and the Surefire G2L is above the pricepoint. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. Looks like I might get a 25" coiled airhose and a tire inflation tool then!

Yea, forget the light. Home Depot really doesn't have anything that remarkable at the moment. At least the 2 locations near me don't.

I just bought a bunch of Husky LED headlamps at HD for me and family. They were $4.99 each, take 3 AAA's and seem to be well worth the price. I'm not sure who makes the emitter but they have low, high and flash modes, the controls are workable with mittens (BTDT already this year) and they seem to be pretty well made. They say '1 Watt' on them and are in the bargin bins up near the front doors.

Home Depot has greatly increased their flashlight offerings this fall. Have a bunch of new Husky lights at noted above, plus mag lites and Coast LED lights. I bought a Coast with a stated output of 140 lumens for $35

I bought a Husky 3 AAA 3 Watt Cree light ($21) to use with my lockblocks. (It fits the larger curve, but that's ok...my handlebars are working with the smaller curve anyway.
I used it the other night on my commute home and compared it to my Home-made halogen. It's nearly as bright (actually brighter in the center) and has a similar throw.

Works so well I went back and picked up another for my wife's bike.
Might get one more to replace the 9 LED light I have on my helmet.

Hey, is that the one w/ the vertical ridges (i.e. diffraction grating) on the polycarbonate lens?

I bought a "3-watt, 100 lumen" Husky light with the ridges for $12 (batteries incl)! when my gen cut out on a ride. It casts light across a wide horizontal range (say 10:30 to 1:30 on the "bogies at your six!" scale) but a very narrow vertical, so it makes a great "be seen" light.

The focus is inadequate for optimal "seeing," but certainly would be a great "emergency/limp home" light. The "lid" on the light makes it not visible to traffic roughly abeam you, but the lid part screws off easily (in wet weather, it'd need to be water-proofed; fine as is for dry).

Now permanently added to my tool kit for emergencies.

Jeff, HD has a really poor selection of lights, but here's an interesting online choice:
