I have the AA version of the Coleman Max on a lockblock. I'm pleased with its ability to light my way, though I am considering also purchasing the headband version to mount on my helmet because steering into an object I want to illuminate doesn't seem very wise. There are several threads about the Coleman Cree-based flashlights, a quick search will provide lots of information including beam comparison shots.

I have the three AAA version and experimented with it yesterday evening. It worked fairly well for illuminating the road ahead and for being seen. For the price, I may add another.

I have the very similar model for $29 (at Wallyworld) that includes a red and blue LED . This turned out to be a very good solution for me. The white lite is plenty brite for my use. My route includes a well lit boulevard where I turn the LED to red or blue to save batery. I read from the pros on this forum that there are better deals (dollars per lumen) but this one is affordable and avaialable locally. Besides if you don't like it, take it back.

I didn't like it. But Wallyworld does have a new one that is rated for 3 watts and I think 150 lumens for the same price and about the same size. Personally all the flashlights from Wallyworld I found to be cheap and poorly made, lasting about a year or less with the only exception being the Mag brand lights.

I bought a 2 x AA Coleman Max for WalMart this past weekend, as all my AA flashlights have fallen into the void known as "two young boys".

I was very surprised by the light output. One set of batteries made it through a weekend of camping no problem. Nice tight beam that really lit up the trails, punched through the underbrush, etc. Several of the scout leaders were very impressed by it, and thought they were going to go get one.

Going to get some lockblocks and either add it to bars or try it as a helmet light this week.

Will post my thoughts after that.

I used mine today on the commute. Used 2 zip ties to attach to my helmet. It was more than adequate for my commute.

I have the 2 AA version of this light and I use it around the house, but it is too weak to make a good bike light in my opinion. I don't see how this light would allow you to see the road very well when car headlights are coming toward you.
