Home Depot "Huskey" 200 lumen vs Lowes "Task Force" 60X

It seems the gang at Candlepower found a new super beast flashlight. It is sold by Home Depot. The thread is in the led flashlight forum and makes for interesting reading.

Looks very bright and inexpensive, but probably too big to be ideal for bike use.

I just bought one of the husky lights. It completely washes out my coleman max which is rated at 115 lumens. So it is bright. I have not taken the time to look for O ring seals and such, which is important when commuting.

While the 2 D-cell size might be acceptable, the beam is a quite narrow "thrower" (as commented on in the long CandelPower Forum thread). Compared to my Fenix L2D Premium, the main beam is about half the diameter and thus about 1/4 the area. With such a small area, it completely washes out the Fenix's main beam. However, this beam is also rather narrow for bike-mounted use and it is too large for helmet use where a narrow beam can be swept back and forth.

I suppose you could mount two of them, but that would be a rather large package. Nice flashlight for the money, particularly if you want a narrow beam thrower to illuminate house numbers from your car, etc. I plan on keeping mine but doubt it will see much bicycle use.

I wonder if a diffusing type lens could be fit to one?

For that Husky, what type of rechargeable battery would you use?

They also have a Husky brand 3 watt LED that runs on 3 AA batteries for about $18. It is very bright. It could easily light the way for riding. Rated at 145 lumes. About 4-5 inches long, 1.5 in diameter. Seems like a very good light.

If you mean the "3 Watt Tactical Flashlight "#794 653, sku #3995351903 as reviewed HERE and HERE, it takes 3 AAA, not AA, batteries. That means less than half the mAh of 3 AA's. For my purposes, that eliminates it from consideration.
