CREE 8-way light changes modes with being bumped. Is there a fix?
Bought two of these from DX and love the light I get from them. In fact, I bought two, but only run with one on at a time, because they are so powerful (even at 20+mph). Problem is, there are parts of my ride that get a bit bumpy, and on these segments, the light will change modes, cycling through the various flashy patterns, none of which I ever use.
Is there a fix? A workaround? I only ever use the brightest mode, so I'd settle for a way to make these into just single mode lights.
And yes, I know I could've bought cheaper models with fewer modes. I screwed that part up.

Searching the threads, someone suggested putting a piece of aluminum foil between the spring at the battery at the endcap. I'll give that one a shot.
Any other suggestions? Feel free to ridicule me for buying a light with exactly 7 more modes than I need.

I replaced the weak spring in the endcap with a much stronger one from a donor flashlight.

when using a magnet it must be used on the positive end, not the tailcap.. It is best using a rare earth magnet, 5/8 or 1/2 inch size is best.. I have used the 5/8 which is a perfect fit for 18650 batteries..

My 18650 light did the same thing till I added magnetic 18650 extenders to the battery.

Perfect fit, used about 5 per battery.

Sometimes you can add an o ring in front of the lens, this fixed one of my cheap DX lights.
Also, cells vary in length, despite manufacturing standards. Try another brand of cell.
Finally, add a little tape to sides of cell to reduce movement in flashlight. May need a strong magnet to remove cell from flashlight once you don this - it won't slide out easily once you do this.
