Rec'd a light configuration for my bike
I will be riding my bike at night for recreation.on rural country roads with little to no street lights. I don't want to spend a fortune, either as I know there are A LOT of flashlight choices out there. I prefer a 1x18650 or 2xCR123 flashlight at less than $60 per light. What would be better, a q5 or a P7 configuration, or both? I was thinking of outfitting my bike with at least 2 maybe 3 Tiablo A9 aimed closer to my bike and one Tiablo A9 with the aspherical head aimed further out in front of me. Would a Q5 provide more flood for lighting a larger area nearer the bike than a P7 light? I want a lot of light for a reasonable cost.

I personally use a mix of both.. A p7 as my main light with a Fenix TK11 Q5 as my long range light.. When using this combo together it makes for a nice pair. Depending on how long you ride you may need a couple extra 18650 cells..

I thought a p7 would be more of a throw light and the Q5 would make a better flood light? I want both, too. How does the light patten of a MCE light compare to a P7 or Q5?

That is incorrect.. The Q5 an R2 Crees are more thrower's and the P7's are almost universally flood lights..

EDIT: (I'll take it apart later and see if I can add more detent positions)
Generally I think they are very good, the only drawback is they do take up a lot of barspace.

I also have two of the fenix mounts. As noted by Unknown Cyclist the side to side movement is worthless, the detentes are spaced to far apart for fine tuning. I would not say mine rattle, however there is some movement between the mating pieces.
I have a P7 and a fenix L2D Q5 and they hold both of these lights secure.
