VHoldR - waterproofing and postproduction

I was settled on the VHoldR camera until I read about its lack of waterproofing and saw how bad the color is. I have two specific questions, since I like (or can accept) the other things about it.

1. I intend to use my helmetcam in torrential downpours. Has anyone done their own waterproofing?
2. Has anyone managed to milk decent color out of the raw footage in post?

Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming nobody's done any homemade waterproofing or color post work, but I'm giving this a bump just in case.
