Talking I need a new computer.

OK, I dropped my Trek computer at the end of last season, and now the display doesn't work, so I think it's toast.

My Ciclo Master isn't picking up anything, and yes, I've checked and replaced batteries, checked the magnet and sensor, etc. etc. etc. I'm afraid that the wiring harness is shot. So unless I can replace just the harness, I'm afraid that's shot.

So, time for a new computer. But since I know what I want I can't find it. Nothing super fancy, I'm afraid that I'm into cheap, but I want both auto on/off and scan. And I'll be darned if I can find a single computer on the market that has both. Maybe they're mutually exclusive. Maybe product descriptions just don't carry complete info.

Does anyone know if such a creature exists?

Auto on/off - I want it to turn on when I start riding. My Ciclo Master had to be turned on manually and that was a HUGE pain. If I forgot, I wouldn't get an accurate ride read.

Scan - just when it automatically scrolls through the different readings: current speed, average speed, ride time, time, etc.

The first computer I ever had (a cheapo) had scan and I love it. I haven't had it since and I really miss it.

Just buy a decent Sigma, obviously it will have auto on/off and you don't really need scan as modern computers have larger screens that display more information.

These have a large screen so all the functions are displayed together so scan isn't needed.
And I believe this one can be set up for scan.

I'll second sigma, they are a great value. Reasonably priced, large easy to read displays, and I believe some of their models can be programed to auto scroll through the data. Look at the topline computers. They have probably one of the best websites too. Complete with a demo so good, that you can actually program the computer and watch it work.

I've had good luck with other computers too, cateye for example. But Sigma just seems to have the best features for the money.

Not only best features, I've known cateye computers to have more wiring and mount problems, they just aren't as robust.

They look nice though.

I did a quick look... The Sigma BC506 has what you are looking for

http://www.sigmasport.com/us/produkt...e_wired/bc506/

Seriously, try the online product demo before you buy

It seems to retail for about 24.00 USD, but I saw one on amazon for 18.99

I hope this helps..

Yeah, I have 2 Cateye Enduro wired speedometers, and they've both had issues with making the connection between the computer and the mount a couple of times.

Planet Bike has auto on, and it has a lot of info on the screen. And it's easy to change to get the other info. But they only last a year, or two.

I'm really glad you said that, I've tried not to rubbish cateye because they are so popular on here.

I've seen a lot of cateye computers with problems.

But if you want a computer that will work longer than it's warranty, buy a Sigma.

My Sigma BC1100 is older than I'm going to admit.....
