battery question

I'm looking to build a battery pack for my light and I'm getting a little confused. I have 4 18650 3.6v 2000mah cells (I think, they came out of a laptop). I'll be wiring them in series for 14.4v. I'm almost positive they are unprotected cells as they are wired to a pcb currently. I don't want to use the current pcb as its the wrong shape and I have no idea what the specs on it are or how its wired.

My question is how should I go about protecting and charging the pack? Should I use a pcb and a smart charger, or use a pcb that has a charging circuit built in such as this one? http://www.batteryspace.com/index.as...OD&ProdID=4890

I would prefer to use the all-in-one board as it will let me reuse the ac adapter that came with the laptop. Are there any disadvantages to going this route?

Lithium-ion...

I've experimented a bit--with Li-Ion..I have found from CELL Phones...
attempting to create High Intensity lights..not real good...

If I might make a simple suggestion...
A Product...from HUSKY...
Called the ReChargeable Worklight...
By pulling off the Halogen Light..and useing your wiring skills...
You get a 12volt...3-amp...Rechargeable...
Part#HSK142

I paid like...$$26.00 at HOME DEPOT..its really a excellent product...[end]

whatever you do be careful. And if you do build a pack with safety circuits, charge it in a metal bucket. Li Ion isnt your friend.
