Garmin 305 with Heart Rate Monitor for $60 at BB

Well $60.99 to be exact. there was only one left at that store, but there are a few at other locations on clearance.

It comes with the HR sensor. However it does not come with the Speed / Cadence sensor. Im not really worried about the cadence but is this really necessary for the speed??? Also I am 6'1" 225 and the HR sensor does not fit at all ...do they make bigger straps or can I improvise somehow....???

it is not necessary for the speed unless you arent getting satellite signals. i have never had a problem with that. if you want to ride a trainer or rollers you will have to have it.

The edge 305 or the forerunner? Either way - for $60 that is a hell of a deal! And is "BB" Best Buy? Or some other place?

At $60, you can just buy the speed / cadence sensor and it is still a good deal. As mentioned you do not really "need" the speed sensor, but I installed the magnet anyway. Might as well, seeing as how the speed / cadence sensor are both in one unit.

EDIT - as for the heart rate thing, I am 6'1 (or 6'0 depending on if you are the State of Florida DMV or not) at about 185 or so pounds. The HR strap fits me OK. I assume you have let the strap all the way out and it still does not fit? The strap that came with my HR monitor looks like it has a lot of adjustment left in it. But there are many online places that sell just the strap, so if you needed to you could probably make the thing any length you want. Just sew in some extra strap.

If you do not know how to sew, no problem. Any dry cleaner that does alterations will have a little old lady that is a master on some large scary looking ancient machine. She can hook you up in a few minutes.

it was for the Edge 305 with HRM it seems to be on clearance at BB ...most of the stores are out I just used the BB inventory checker and found a place near me that had it. They were actually out of stock but she did a search and found a few in my area that had it.

I wasn't going to get the Speed Cadence sensor but I ride a few paths that are covered in trees and For $38 I might as well.
