help with finding a gps to do just 3 simple things well
Hello, I am new to San Francisco and have a goal of taking a GPS and riding every square inch of the city and document it for myself.
I am having trouble finding a GPS to do some simple things
I want to.
Preset a course map and load it into the GPS before the ride as I don't want to duplicate any riding that I have done.
I want some turn by turn navigation it could be a beep then a look down at an arrow but voice would be great (and in my dreamland voice to a bluetooth headset would be ideal)
I dont want my course to be changed if i stray away from the path a little bit to check out something.
I dont need any ANT connectivity cadence or what not. It almost seems like I should get a standard car GPS instead of a bike one like the 605.
Let's my check my database of GPS systems for bikes that offer turn-by-turn navigation....
No other ones, really.
The fact that it does a few other things as well shouldn't be a reason to not get it.
That is my point. It doesn't need to be labeled a "bike GPS" And I really don't want to spend the money on other things that it does well since I have no interest using those.
I suppose this question is for people who have come up with ways to use there existing non bike gps to be able to do the 3 things I listed above.
Or if anyone has tried the iphone to do the 3 things above with the bike since some of the turn by turn apps are out now.

Garmin etrex Legend Hcx. It does everythin you want and is relatively small
Have you tried RunGPS with any PPC phone with GPS?
