Anyone use an Oximeter?

Here is a cheapy model:

Do these things work? Has anyone found any use for one?

cheap, easy, silent way to measure your resting heart rate first thing in the morning, before getting out of bed. They don't make any noise to wake up the spouse/SO, and there's no strap around your chest to interfere with sleeping.

A sphygmomanometer from Walmart is <$15. Mine has lasted years / hundreds of uses.

Plus gives you your pressure, which is more important to monitor long term / health-wise than your pulse. Are you actually trying to determine blood oxygen saturation?

Several years ago I bought one for aviation use.
At the time, the least expensive one I could find was a "certified medical device",
meaning it was illegal to sell unless the customer was a doctor or had a prescription.
I found a seller on eBay who was not concerned about that.:p

Now I see non-certified ones all over the 'net for 1/4 of what I had to pay.

It does come in really handy for checking the pulse first thing in the morning.
