Mounting the Magicshine on my helmet.
 

I tried the Magicshine on my helmet last night, and had a hard time getting the mounting "thingy" supplied by Geoman attached to my Bell Influx helmet. I could get it so that the thingy was tight enough to solidly attach the lighthead to prevent the illuminated area from varying with every bump, or loose enough to allow me to wear the helmet without getting a headache, but not both. I ran the velcro straps across the top of the helmet to the vent hoes on the side and then attached them in the center. This didn't use all the velcro, and attempting to run the velcro through the vent holes closer to the center would leave enough velcro unattached that it looked like it would be uncomfortable. What's a good way to mount the lighthead?

is the link for the Geoman mount, it's basically a long strip of velcro with a plastic mounting bracket on either end. You run the velcro through the helmet vents and stick the two ends together. They use the vents that are closer to the center in the picture on the link above, but that would leave a lot of extra velcro left over. I'd like to find out if they sent the mount with a lot of extra velcro before I cut it and find out that I don't have enough.

Did you attach the camera to your helmet using the velcro? It looks like cutting the velcro off of the Geoman mounting bracket and using some of the heavy duty velcro you refer to would work a lot better than the way I attached it.

If you look at the tachyoninc link you'll see the dual locks. What you do is stick one lock to the helmet and the other to the mount, they have a sticky tape on one side. Then, you press the velcro side together. They could work on the mount you have, but you'd have one lock stick to your helmet for good. Give me a few days and I'll take a few pictures of it for you.

I hated those velcro on the MS mount. I wish they make them optional so that the velcro can fasten back to themselve instead of having to fasten to each other. When I did had my MS on my helmet, I ended up using four zips ties one on each corner and each tie to their own vent hole. Later I had to drill a hole at each corner of the MS mount and loop zip ties to each of those holes and loop them into a vent hole. I never used the velcro which came with the MS helmet mount. I also had to put some friction tape on the mount so that the MS light stay put instead of tilting down on rough road.

Anything that uses the o-ring style mount and be mounted to anything around 1" in diameter.

I attached a 1" OD piece of PVC conduit (99 cents at my local hardware store for a 10 foot stick) to:
1-my helmet for a MS helmet mount option (using a 1.5" long chunk of the PVC). I attached it by wrapping it with vulcanized electrical tape (a rubbery, self-sticking tape). It's holding well, and gives a non-slip surface for the light to mount to. This also serves to mount my DiNotte 200L to if I want the MS on the bars.
2-my rear rack to mount my DiNotte 140L on (using a 6" chunk of the PVC). I attached it by drilling holes through each end of the PVC and zip-tying it in place.

Now, I've got to figure out what to do with the other 9+ feet...

Allow me to help answer that. Nine more bike and a matching helmet for each bike will help you use the rest of the PVC surplus. :)
