Garmin 405CX or...?
I was given a Garmin 405CX as a present. It was bought at REI so it's easily returned and/or exchanged. I'm considering doing so in favor of the 310XT because when I wear contacts I will have a hard time reading the 405, but before I do I thought I'd check on any other suggestions in similarly priced units. I'm not going to spring another hundred or two for the 705 but the 500 is bundled with heart rate for a comparable price. Any thoughts? Living in Alaska, the maps stuff isn't important but the ability to dump to a map and show altitudes is sweet. I already have a heart monitor watch and simple bike computer. This would just put them all in one basket and add the ability to see routes/altitudes and log training, etc. My other big issue with the watch is my age/eyesight when using contact lenses. I would prefer a larger display...comments?
I don't like to ride with my contacts. My glasses with progressive lenses take care of the problems of reading the display too. With my contacts, I'd have to keep a pair of cheaters/readers with me in order to see the display.
Besides, the air flow doesn't work well for me with contacts.
