Blackburn Delphi HRM problem

I have a Delphi 6.0 that works great until my heart rate spikes. When this happens the HRM function shuts down and reads zero. The little heart icon even shows there is no signal. If I remove the transmitter and reduce my HR it works again until the next spike. Blackburn sent me a new chest strap transmitter but it did the same thing.

Ideas anyone? I really count on an HRM to keep my exertion in check on longer rides.
