Trek bike computers - new
Trek has some new computers coming out soon: wireless with a large display. These aren't cheap ($80-$140( but the prices/features appear competitive with the other higher end computers. The transmitters are sold ($54) separately because there are different ones. One of the transmitters is a dual one that does cadance/speed from the chainstay.
I asked the sales rep about the long ride issues (distance/time) and he looked at me funny! Maybe, they won't have the limitations the other computers do.
==============
It looks like trip time is 99:99 hh:mm and trip distance is 999.9 mi/km

Unless you're into Randonneuring, the 999.99 miles /99.99 hrs should never be a real issue.
My first cylcocomputer was a Trek model. It worked good .... Man!!! that was a long time ago.

Meh. At that price point you're approaching the bottom of the Garmin lineup. $140 + $54 would have bought my 305 with HR and Cadence and left $ over.

Yeah, I'm curious if anybody here has experiences with these new computers yet.
They're marketed as Bontrager Node 1, and Bontrager Node 2.
Node 1 is about 80 bucks, Node 2 a bit more as it has altitude (that price is without any sensors).
Big screen, ANT+ protocol (so presumably interchangeable with heart rate straps, and cadence & speed detectors of other brands). It doesn't record, just displays.
But they seem pretty nice for what they are.
Edit: The website says they can also receive GPS signals over ANT+, but how would that work? These things can only display numbers, it appears.
Edit: It appears that the corresponding sensors only work with Trek frames that have special holes in the frame for these sensors. What the @#$?

And you can use the (cheaper!/better?) Garmin sensor!

Big numbers such on these displays are great -- My Cateye Strada has big, easy to read numbers, and I dig it.
Can't tell for sure, but these Trek/Bontrager displays look like they give even bigger numbers. Cool.

Since the Node 1/2 have been out for two months now, does any one here on BF actually have and use them? I am looking to replace my Incite ACH Digital. I already/use have the speedtrap sensor. I would like to add cadence and HRM and my current cycle computer is not upgradeable.
Since my kids lost my HR strap for my Nike unit this summer, I will have to replace something. The Node 2 seems like the ticket. My LBS has sold only one Node unit and has no feedback on the unit yet. I am. Trying to get actual user input before I spend $175 for the Node 2 and cadence sensor. Any input is greatly appericated.

I have two node 1 and have used them for a month - Even though they have the heart monitor option - but I don't have the HM sensor (yet) - or the cadence sensor either.
I had lots of problems with trek alpine/incite computers last year - and I sense that line was really problematic for them - ... They did a software/hardware re-write with these new ones - really nice upgrade - the displays are just right - easy to read and big where you need them to be - the temperatur and time is also easy to read - Auto start is nice -
From what I can gather the node 2 only adds altitude (I live in tampa so I don't really care) and a back light to the display (which I would like) - but not worth 40 bucks more too me .

Just wondering what; if any, feedback is available. I have searched through BF plenty and am trying to get any advice from anyone that has used the Node 2.

99 hours and 999 miles is enough for randonneurs. I'm sure there are exceptions to 1240k/90 hr brevets, but they aren't really that common.

I have the Node 1 on my new 7300. Been using it for about 4 weeks. It was overkill for my use but I had terrible luck with the Incite models.
I bought the Node 1 for two reasons. 1. The large size of the display. Don't need my glasses to read it. 2. It has a long signal pick up range of 5 ft. (I put the sensor on the rear wheel.)
I monitor riding time, avg speed and trip distance. I really like have the temp available. Easy to set up and use but there are probably as many functions that I don't use as I do. If I decide I do want HR or Cadence I can easily add it without having to buy a new computer.
And IT HAS LARGE LETTERS THAT I CAN SEE!

I've been using the Node 1 for about 3 months now. I got both the speed and cadence sensor. Haven't had any issues and I really like the large display it has. All the information is easily accessable (dont have to scroll through lots of functions to find the one you want). Only problem ive had so far is that the sensors require batteries, and i've gone through two new ones already on both my cadence and speed sensor, once they start to go you get very eradic data.
