    Comments on the B&M (German) tail lights??

    Do they provide the visibility they say they do? Peter White sells GOOD stuff and I believe in his no-BS approach to equipment.

    That said, I will get my stuff from Europe as that is closest to where I now ride..

    IF B&M is NOT to your liking, what battery operated tail lights would give better visibility and/or warning to traffic behind you?

    I have a 4D toplight that mounts to the rear rack. The light is very large compared to most other taillights so it is easy to see at night from a distance. The light is not bright enough to be seen during the day - for that a use DiNotte taillight. Battery replacement requires removal of small screw set in plastic cover and I wonder how long before the plastic thread strips. Battery replacement is a bit finicky as well. I prefer the DiNotte 140R or Planet Bike Superflash for ease of battery replacement and brightness.

    Lights made for the German market don't blink; they only have a solid light. That being said I like the Radbot1000.

    It's a nice large area taillight. My hope is that it gives drivers a better sense of distance than the small point lights. I use my 4d toplight battery-dyno hybrid in conjunction with a Superflash on the roads, or by itself on the trails. I made a rather shoddy video of my lights a while back, but you can catch a few good glimpses of it against the superflash.

    I have a Selectra taillight. Three LEDs (a big one in the center and two smaller ones on the sides), big reflector, and with a standlight circuit. I got it from a shop during a visit to Germany. I don't see it on Peter White's site, but if I had to replace it, I'd get the Toplight Line Plus.

    These B&M lights are everywhere on German streets. While my sister was living there, I bought her a dynohub setup for Christmas one year for a grand total of maybe 130 Euros installed, including halogen front & rear lights and a hub already built into a wheel. Bikes are required to have self-powered lighting systems (at least, bikes that aren't "sport" bikes, like race-style road and mountain bikes), so there's no need to special order stuff like this. Not many of the LBSes in my area have any experience in generator lighting, if at all.

    B&M is quality stuff. Go for it.
