gps for bike
I want to install a GPS Tracker for my bike, so that my family and friends could
know where I am . I searched online and found some samples from some stores.
https://catalog.ebay.com/Garmin-nuvi-...d=p3286.c0.m14
https://www.nowsupplier.com/mini-size...ry-p-1310.html
well, as I'm a new fan for GPS tech. , I'm not clear what kinds of terms should be consided when plan to buy a GPS tracker. For example, two samples mentioned above, I dont know which one is better?
TKS!

One is a tracker, the other one is a receiver. Which do you want?

the most commonly used tracker I know of is the Spot. You see them a lot in long distance races.
not sure what happened, I'm moving this to Electronics

For real-time tracking without manual intervention, assuming you are in an area with cell phone coverage, get a phone with GPS and the ability to send data to any of a number of services that will display your location. Google Lattitude, for example. I'm sure there is an iPhone equivalent. Bring a spare battery or external power as these apps kill phone batteries.
If post-ride is sufficient, any GPS logger (I think Holux makes one the size of a gum pack), cyclist GPS (Garmin), or gps intended for backpackers and geocachers will do, coupled with Garmin, Google Maps, Map My Ride, Ride With GPS, or similar web sites.
I think an easy manual method is at rest stops/long stop lights, send an SMS (text) message to Twitter "At corner of 4th & Main. Headwinds sux #unoge". There might be a way to auto-insert GPS coordinates into a text message. Or play "Where's Unoge?": post a camera pix to Facebook or Google pictures and let friends try to guess your location. Geek points if you can insert and they can extract location from metadata in the photo.

I use my phone with GPS. I then found a program called SportyPal This is one of the work outs the wife and I did. It tracks altitude, speed and maps it on google maps. It's free.

most of the newer phones, Iphone, android or palm have integrated gps and there are apps you can subscribe too where someone can track that phone online and see where you are up to 10 foot accuracy.. You don't need an specialized gps like the spot..

I checked what you mentioned above, I think that one listed on Nowsupplier.com is pretty cool. Compared to the another sample listed on Amazon.com,
this one boasts some unique features, especially the show the target location through map message .
