New Reelight Model

I just noted that Clever Cycles seems to be the first US source for the new Reelight 500 series lights. These now have the light head separate from the power coil so that it can be located away from the coil and spoke magnets. This should allow considerably higher light location, increasing light visibility and flexibility of installation.

I like the basic idea of Reelights as they are a battery free blinking safety light solution.

I have not personally tried them but as noted the idea seems to me to certainly be worthwhile.

tatfiend, technically Reelight is a joke, basically a poor man's dynamo system. It might be OK as a quick way of equipping a bike with a bottom-line see-me self-sustained illumination. Otherwise they are not really worth the attention.

Yeah, gee, I dunno...sort of kludgy, $56 and all it does is flash - but only when you're moving. In comparison, the little battery+LED flashers have gotten pretty bright, pretty cheap, very small and fairly long running.

I guess it's always there and you don't have to think about a battery - great for folks that can't even be bothered to pump up their tires.
