Day time flasher for the front?
I have a Nite Rider helmet mounted light that is really bright and has a flashing option. However, it has a battery pack and charger and all that which makes for a lot of work.
Can anyone recommend a simpler setup that will make me visible to oncoming drivers in daylight hours? I envision some sort of flashlight style with common AA or AAA rechargeable batteries. No cables and easy to take off and throw in the bag when parked on a public rack. |
You need lots of lumens for daytime visibility. IMO no AA or AAA light is going to be particularly visible.
Years ago I had a motorcycle totaled out from under me on a bright daylight day and it had the headlight on and a headlight modulator installed for daylight visibility. I was running a H4 halogen headlight bulb with 40 watts low beam power draw, far more than any bicycle light made. I swear the gal looked right at me before turning in front of me. She still told the cop that she never saw me. She was not looking for a motorcycle so I never registered on her conscious brain. Even with a daytime light you need to ride like you are invisible to auto drivers. |
Any thoughts about going with a red taillight flasher for the front in the daylight? I haven't tried it but while reading your post it came to me that it might be more visible than a flashing white light. Also, I ride with hi vis colors to ensure they see me.

I believe red in front is illegal in virtually all states. White or amber in front and red for the rear are standard vehicle requirements. I know Dinotte sells a amber flasher for front daylight use.

Dinotte front amber light works for me. Light stylish and runs on 4 AA batteries. Not cheap but worth the money IMO.
