Garmin Chest Strap 305; Short Battery life

I've gotten a Garmin 305 just over 1 month ago. The replace the battery after just 2 week and that fixed the problem I was having with it. Just today I had to replace the batter again? Any ideas?

Which HR strap do you have. Garmin has three different ones that I know about on the market. One hard plastic one and two soft fabric ones with a trasmitter.

Off the top of my head one thought is that the when the contacts are wet it will continue to transmit.

I would say it is possible you had a bad cell.. Buy a new battery and try one more time, if if fails again quickly, contact garmin and see if they will replace the strap..

I have over 50 hours on my 705 HRM, and it's still the original battery. Maybe your HRM is defective, and doesn't shut off.

Most straps use CR2032 coin batteries. It's a lot cheaper to buy them online. I've used Battery Bob: $13.75 for 11 Maxell batteries (1.25 each) , or $6.89 for 5, and free shipping.

Utterly odd, although my 305 chest strap is a freak in the other direction. I have had it for three years now, used twice per week for ~1 hour of intervals. It's still on the original battery.

Year and a half here and still on the same one. Old enough and used daily, the elastic is starting to die but the battery just keeps on going..
