Running headlight and tail lights of Alfine generator hub?
I just bought a used jamis 4.0 commuter. It comes with an Alfine generator front hub.
It currently has a front light wired to it. Is it possible to wire a rear blinker as well? Do these hubs make enough power light both a front and a rear? Is there a special double plug to wire both into, or do I just add in another set of wires into the existing holes?

Several European companies make dynamo taillights designed to work with a dynamo front light. Take a look at the Peter White Cycles web site to see what is available that he imports. BTW none of the European dynamo taillights are blinkers, they are solid on lights like automotiuve taillights as blinky style bicycle taillights are illegal in many European countries.

Dynohubs put out 3 watts. Dynohub headlights come in 3 watt versions for use without a rear light, or 2.4 watts for use with a 0.6 watt rear light. The 2.4 watt headlights I've seen (all two of them) have a separate set of connectors for running a wire to the rear light. It sounds like maybe you have a 3 watt headlight.
I've never seen a dynohub with a blinkie rear, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Actually most LED dynamo headlights are 2.4 watts nominal while dynamos sold in Europe are available in 2.4 and 3 watt versions. Typicaly only the 3 watt versions are offered here in the USA. Only incandescent bulb lights and replacement bulbs are available in 2.4 and 3 watt ratings to work with or without a taillight on a 3 watt dynamo.

Thanks for straightening me out.
