Fitbit charge HR accuracy
Any of you that have this device, how accurate have you found it to be while biking? An looking into buying one, but is it worth it?

"" I find it very much the same as the Fitbit Surge GPS unit. The optical sensor gets within the ballpark, but doesn’t accurately track quick HR changes such as during intervals. """

Depends on what you need to know. I find the Charge HR is a good tool for tracking your HR over the course of the day and analyzing trends day-to-day or week-to-week. It will display your current HR if you tap on it, but it's not 100% accurate. It may display your current HR at 160 while a chest band hook-up says 164 or v/v. If that difference is important to you, the Charge HR may frustrate you. If ballpark is good enough and, like me, you want to have the device record your HR data so you can analyze it and see that your heart is getting stronger week-by-week, etc., this will be a great tool.

My girlfriend has a Fitbit Charge HR, it's been almost two months now. It's not accurate for intense exercise. If you're tooling around the local bike trail it will be very close, if you're doing intervals or hill repeats it will be somewhat erratic. Of course, a lot of the accuracy depends on where you wear it, how much hair and pigment you have on your skin, etc.
The automatic resting heart rate feature is pretty neat, though, and if a reliable HRM for exercise isn't your goal it's a great device.
