Magicshine redux "ad nauseum" charger question

Am I correct that the new improved magicshine battery 4.5 is compatable with the original style charger? I don't want to have to buy a new charger too. Sorry if this has been addressed but if it was I couldn't find it in any other threads.

Has MagicShine come out with a new pack or do you mean the one being sold by GeoManGear? As long as the plug is compatible and the pack uses one or more bank(s) of 2 Li-ion cells in series for a nominal 8.4 output voltage, the MagicShine charger should work. The pack has the battery protection circuitry and the charger itself is pretty simple. With un-protected cells, you will need a completely different charger.

I had to change the original post to the correct 4.5. The new one being sold by Geomangear and the replacement battery for the recalled item is one in the same. I'm under that impression at least.

From Geomangear posted elsewhere:

Quote:
Using your existing charger is fine, we added some extra safety features to the GeoManGear battery pack. The battery pack is a smart pack, it features sophisticated safety systems that has full charge termination after 5 hours and temperature sensor so the battery will not accept a charge in extreme temperatures.
