    What light should I buy?

I got $100 to spend on a bike light. Im on amazon and theres two lights at that price. Theres the SpokeGrenade SG-900 and the Magicshine MJ-808.

    http://www.amazon.com/Magicshine-MJ-...4562192&sr=8-1

    http://www.amazon.com/SpokeGrenade-S...4562192&sr=8-4

    Which one should I get?

Im leaning towards the spokegrenade once since it has 900 instead of the 600 for the magicshine.

Does the battery cover thing let me put it on the top tube?

Yes, those are both MagicShine lights, probably identical. One is just lying more than the other. Actual light output has been measured around 500 lumens. 600 lumens is not a crazy thing to claim. 900 is just typical BS.

SpokeGrenade is a brand new Amazon vendor with no history, though Amazon would protect you a bit.

Here it is from GeoManGear. They are an outstanding place to get stuff from, they ship fast, they WILL help you if you have a problem up to and including shipping replacements for broken glass/etc. They are also AFAIK the ONLY vendor that actually replaced defective MagicShine batteries OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET when the early batteries had problems.

For $90, including one of their redesigned battery packs, I don't think you can beat this.

One caveat with that light; the wire leading into the connector tends to fray. I have replaced my Y connector (I also have a MagicShine taillight) 3 times now, which I don't mind too much since they're $3 from DealExtreme.
Work: the 8 hours that separates bike rides.

This one has the latest Cree XM-L LED and is much brighter that the P-7. Shipping is slow, but they will take it back if it doesn't meet expectations. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/mj-808e...-4x18650-57100
You might wait a little until the local vendors have it.

Dealextreme will take something back, wow what a statement. how long do you wait for that refund 3-4 months..

Much easier to buy the same light from us based seller from bikempowerment, 49.00 for the head and free shipping.. 89.00 with new style battery..

The refund is quick. Getting to that point may take a week or two because of the commication problems.
I didn't know anyone else had it. Good to be abl to get it locally.

I got mine from Nova Bike Lights (I think they've switched to calling themselves Action LED or something) off Ebay. Another US based company (this guy is out of Illinois) for about the same price).
Punctuation is important. It's the difference between "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse" and "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse"

I ordered a cree q5 and it said it was 240 lumens. I think thats the best bang for buck in the $20 range. What do you think about it? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UQB1YQ

I spent my other money on a pannier and a sti mirror.

When I get more money I might buy this in the $50 range, you think its good? http://www.lightake.com/detail.do/sk...9352010ZYPYDSF
