Elcheapo rear helmet light

I paid $3.00 for this rear light and attached to my helmet with zip ties.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-12-LED-T...item43a573ef0b

I also run a Planet Bike Superflash Turbo on the rear. The whole attaching to the rear of the helmet with zipties was an experiment, and it didn't work, and the light fell out, my loss would only been a couple bucks.

However, to my amazing, the little el-cheapo rear light performed like a champ!! My wife went for night time jog. I told her I would tag along so she can give me an idea on how the cheapo light performs. She said it was like a Christmas Tree!! She said it was very bright. I asked her how did it compare to the light under my seat, the Superflash? She said the cheapo $3.00 light was brighter..Now, I asked her this 3 times. Then I still didn't believe it, I had to get off the bike, take off the helmet, and told her to walk in front of me about 50 ft.. The little cheapo light was holding it own up against the PB Superflash Turbo.. I figure the cheapo light would be a disposable light. That means after the batteries run out, it would be no more good. If that happens, I still think I am getting more than my money's worth..

Even for the $3.00 the vender on Ebay has best offer.. So, me and my cheap self, I offered $2.50 for 2 more of them. The vendor accepted.. Going to attached this $2.50 wonder to all my helmets...

I run a PB Beamer on the front of my helmet too..

Wow. The clamp alone is worth $3 if it fits a PBSF. Unfortunately, that light doesn't look to be all red in the ebay pic. I don't think I would want anything but all red on a rear facing light.

It does have several colors, it also has 2 or 3 rates of flash timing too. On the mount, I haven't tried to see if my PBSF would fit in the mount that came with this light. To be honest, I wouldn't want to trust my PBSF in that mount either!! However, for a extra light in the rear, and going on my helmet, and the high visibility (so says my wife), IMO, well worth the $2.50 each.

Also, I have a habit of putting a flashing light in my sock to, it shows up in the rear. Will put one there too. I just want to be seen..

I bought 4 of these for $2.50/ea. Amazing amout of light. I have a radbot 1000 with the mount screwed to the back of my helmet, so I can slide the light out to change the batteries. this slid right in, did not completely click, but worked fine on 1st ride. It is a bright as the radbot, probably cause it uses 3 AAA instead of 2. The fizzpoop function on the radbot might be a touch better, but so far this is the bee's knnes for the price.

Ha, I thought I was the only one to catch on to this! They only cost a couple bucks, and have 2 or 3 blinking modes..

Oh Gawd, you will catch the wrath if you dare to say "it is as bright as the radbot 1000"....

I got about 5 of them, and they have yet to fail, and I dropped one, and it still works.. Even in the rain...Now, I like my Superflash Turbo back there too. But, on my off shoot helmets like the one you see here, this $2.50 light is smoking...

Great find!!

I am noticing, if it doesn't have a big price tag, it doesn't get dicussed!!

Yep. For rear lights, the location on your body/bike is what matters the most -- the higher, the better. Drivers notice a cheap light on your helmet way before an expensive one on your fender.

Here is a YouTube clip of this little $2.50 wonder!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJ2kBEqLN10

My wife said it is brighter and more noticeable that my Superflash Turbo. My eyes are worst than my wife's I will say it a very close second to the Turbo.. dave s said it is just as bright as his Radbot 1000!! IMO, that is two strong endorsements for a light which dave s and I both pay $2.50 each for.. I just order 2 more, because the seller might run out..

Check out the youtube vid..Plus, the mount is the SAME as on the Planet Bike Turbo Flash.. All that for $2.50

My Planet Bike SuperFlash Turbo, next to Elcheapo $2.50 rear light, with same mount as PBTF...

Pretty sweet for the price. I found a 9 LED light at my local 99-cent store. Quite visible from 1 block away. Seven modes to choose from. Mounted mine with a nut (recessed in the styrofoam to keep the skull from cracking in case of a spill) and bolt.

What color is the material the LEDs are mounted on? Mine was black and I covered the lights then used some chrome spray paint I had lying around to make a more reflective surface. You might be able to bump up visibility a scosche w/ a more reflective surface. It worked for me.

EDIT: Looks like yours is multicolor. Thats cool if it works for you, but I prefer all red.

Same here, I would have also prefered all red. However, at the price I paid, I ain't complaining... It does have some red in the blinking..

My two other ones arrived yesterday. So, on this morning's communte, I have one of these lights on my seat post, and another one on the rear of my helmet. At 6 am this morning, I can say, I was very much seen!!
