Not a pure electronics post, but I thought I'd share my recent change.

Purchased a pair of sunglasses from www.dualeyewear.com. They are sunglasses but the lenses have a magnification area at the bottom.

I got them just in time for a recent short vacation and they were fantastic. Able to see the computer and gps very clearly now and can read paper maps easily. No need to carry reading glasses. Previously was okay but not clear with computer and gps was a struggle.

Only problem was spent more time focusing on the gps, but should go away when novelty wears off.

I rode for a couple of years with a pair of sunglasses, and then went on vacation without them so I bought a new pair that were very similar to my old pair. When I got to Chicago and went for a ride along Lake Shore Dr, I thought my computer had gone bad because half the screen was invisible. I figured it was from being outside on the car. What I figured out a week later was that my new sunglasses were polarized, and my old ones weren't. Duh. In that time I never looked at the computer without my glasses on.

Now that I'm older I can't see anything anyway...

I was wonderin about how polarized sunglasses work with garmins. I wear polarized prescription sunglasses and when I try to look at the little infomercials at Walmart, the screen goes blank. Does that happen with the garmins? Sorry if I hijacked but to the op, I thought you would have had a similar exp.

Polarized glasses tend to obscure the screens on all electronics as they produce polarized light. I still ride with my polarized glasses though to cut the glare.

I did not get polarized lens so cannot answer your question. I do find that all sunglasses block my car radio from view, but work okay with garmin and cateye computers.
