Keeping my magic shine head unit in place
As it's got darker in the morning, I've been getting my magicshine out again to help light my way. My issue is that my current commute includes some very rough roads - when I ride them the head unit tends to swivel upwards on the bars and conveniently illuminates the trees rather than the road. Does anyone have any good solutions to this problem - either some sort of non-slip tape or other fix you've implemented to stop your light unit from moving around?
Thnx.
Thnx.

you can try placing some 3m double stick tape between the bar and the light

Wrap one or two layer of GB (Gardner Bender or equivalent) Fricton Tape around the handlebar. This gives the Magicshine mount something to grip. The tape is available at most Hardware store in the electrical Dept. The tape is not permanent and you can still adjust and tilt the light head.

Like the sound of the friction tape - I'll give that a try

I put a small piece of rubber from a tube between the bars and mount at contact point.. This small amount of friction will keep head in place. Make sure you are using the right size band..

Does the magicshine have a small bolt underneath to hold the base to the light housing? You might be able to fix that to something like this:

The reson why it vibrates up is because how the load is on the rubber ring. Rotate the light down a little farther than where you want it at. Then bring back up to where you want it. That way the rubber ring isnt trying to pull the light up or down.

Wasn't able to check this out this week, but mounting it on my bars over the tape seemed to help last time I rode in the dark. Will update next week when I hope to do more bike commuting.
