connections inside Magic Shine switch

I pulled the wires out of my 3-light MagicShine light.

When I plug it in the green light comes on, but the switch doesn't turn on the light.

Can anyone look at this closeup and guess where the green and white wires need to be reconnected?
Maybe someone could look inside their own.

link to really big picture

I hate just to trash it.

Thanks!

Wow. That is really poor soldering in there. Is it the nearest solder blob in the photo? Kinka looks like it has broken wires poking out...

Yep. Very fine strands. But it's so small I don't know how it got soldered at all. Person? Machine?
I'm going to try and solder the white and green ones back, but I do not know where they go.

How do you get at this board? Maybe I could take a look inside a similar MagicShine light...

The green cover that is the push button that lights up unscrews from the base. The circuit board is right there.

I took one of my single lights apart but it wasn't the same as yours. Sorry I can't help...

Thanks for looking. I'm sure someone will post as soon as I clean everything up and put my tools away!

There is this site that had some pretty good pictures of the 816 dissected:

https://www.light-test.info/index.php...mid=55&lang=en

In one of those pictures it appears that the green wire is below the red and the white below the black. You will need to look at that picture to verify it since it is not really obvious....but it is a possibility.

I think the Author of that site is a member of MTBR forum. A search there may reveal some additiinal info.

Thanks. That photo is just a bit small. I'll see if I can track down the author. Or I'll just guess. It is, after all, already broken...

Do you have a DVM? Where do those 4 wires go? Where is the light that illuminates when plug in? The black and red wired are still connected? Do they power the light you mention? Does it appear that the green and white wires were soldered to the two pads below the red and black wires? Do the green and white wires go to a mechanical switch? If so, polarity shouldn't matter. Can you ohm it out?

That's a lot of questions for the clueless.
Maybe I'll hook up jumpers and see if it explodes.

i think Colleen is correct. my switch shorted out last night. the mounting screw for the switch came out b/c there are only a couple of threads that go into the switch. so the switch was flapping around while I was riding.

found your post and puled the switch apart. on my switch there is a yellow wire instead of
green and it was disconnected. but the white was still connected.

so green connects the red wire and white wire connects below black.
