External Battery - Proper Power Output for Edge 800

Hello, MEC in Canada has a SolarFocus external battery pack. The specs say the output voltage is DC 4.2+/-.005V. The charging current is MAX 500mA (I don't know if this is input or output).

Another section of the user manual says the USB output is:
5V, 1A (max)
6V, 800mA (max)

It also lists a solar output but I don't have the solar attachment, just the USB charger.

Will this work with the Edge 800? I don't want to fry the Edge.

Thanks

You may run into issues charging and navigating at the same time. The voltages are standard usb so I wouldn't be too worried there. But I know the edge 500 needs a slightly modded charging cable to tell it not to drop into computer connection mode.

Thanks for the info. I tentatively gave it a try and nothing blew up! It worked, and the supplied cable was fine. Only minor problem is the cable has multiple attachment bits so ends up need about 2 inches of straight clearance to the mini usb port of the edge.
