Galaxy S3 bar mount beneficial?
 

I'm considering getting a handle bar mount for my S3 but have a couple concerns. First is that my battery seems to get zapped quickly running GPS. Second is that my screen isn't very visible in direct daylight. Should I just leave it in my pocket and check it if need be? Have you found it beneficial to mount your phone to your bars? Or has it proven to be more of a novelty of little benefit. I already have a cateye for speed and mileage.

I have been exploring the same thing for my S3. I noticed that there are many bike mounts on the market that can handle the S3 but I have not pulled the trigger for the following reasons. 1. I have aero bars on my road bike, and I have had issues getting other accessories mounted on my bars. 2. Bright sunlight would likely make the screen useless. 3. Vibration, smart phones have motion sensors, not sure how continuous vibration and jolts would effect the phone long term. 4. The S3 is a large phone and it would stick out like a sore thumb. I am in western Africa and I have heard of people killed just to get their cell phone. Right now I carry my phone in my jersey pocked and access it when it is safe to do so. For me, I think this is the best I can do for now. I would love to use google maps as I am riding. Maybe google glasses? If anyone has thoughts or idea's on this, please post. Thanks

Jolts and vibrations are not good, but not due the accelerometers which are solid state blocks of silicon and impervious to the accelerations (vibration) they're designed to measure.
