Luxos-B Dyno Headlight

The reviews of the Luxos-B Dyno Headlight sound so good. Has any one gotten this light yet and how do you like it. I was thinking of running it on my Sturmey Archer GH6 Dynohub. Would this work well, what might be the draw backs with such an old dyno if any?

I need to try my SA with an LED light. I think the Luxos U might be too much for a vintage SA, but the B might work pretty well.

I've seen it in person but I don't own it.

One thing I will say about it - it's huge. It's noteably larger than the Cyo. I was going to buy it, then I saw it, and I was like - that thing is enormous...

I've had a Luxos-B for over a month and like it. The beam pattern with near and far illumination is great. The beam cutoff is nice for bike/ped paths, less light shining in people's eyes.

Sorry but can't help you with the dynohub question.

Have you checked out this review?

Just checked out the review that you posted he doesn't sound overly excited, Peter White sounds more excited about the light, Grant at rivendale does also. Ill probably get the light and update my dyno hub next year. The dyno hub question is going to be researched on this forum I am sure all the answers have all ready been posted as to how they are ranked.

the person at the link (who is a member here) is a big fan of the Phillips. Others have said that the Luxos is no better than the Phillips, and I have no experience to disagree with that. Peter White doesn't sell the Phillips and I have no idea if he has evaluated them. Most people that have the Luxos are pretty impressed with it

Keep in mind that the Phillips he's comparing it to is the battery powered version, not the dynamo version. The dynamo version of the Phillips puts out less light than the battery powered version (it's 60 lux vs 80 lux if I remember right).

That, and he's the only one I've seen gushing over the Phillips light. Plenty of other people like it - but will note drawbacks. He's the only one I've seen saying it's so perfect and amazing. I mean I kinda wish I had one myself so I could make comment from my own comparison, but it's runtime that's only 1-2 hours even with the best batteries has kept me from buying it.

Oooh thanks for that info about the Phillips light. I hate batteries. Sooner or later they leak in what ever I have them in. I am putting together the bike that will get the Luxos-B. But right now it has a sanyo light with an under the bottom bracket dyno, sanyo also. That will be changed later to some hub dyno?
