Any guess on what the battery life for this thing will be? Do you have to recharge it every day when you're on a tour?

battery life on my 800 seems to be about 8-12 hours. I doubt this would do better than approximately a day's ride.

It's the same size as the 810 and might use a tiny bit less power.

That is, the only reasonable thing to expect is that the battery life is going to be very close to the 810.

Anyone already experience with this one?

Seems an awesome gps, but in reviews I always read the software is slow, and he indicates too late when you have to change left or right... which is pretty necessary to get this info on time when you ride.

While the edge 800 does not automatically generate random maps, like the touring does...

I've had my Edge Touring for about a month, but I don't think I can give you the type of feedback you're after as I haven't yet used it for navigation since I've been mostly riding in familiar territory. I did use the maps on one ride where my daughter and I had gone into an adjoining neighborhood that we were not that familiar with, and looming rain clouds motivated us to find the most direct route home. To this point I've basically been using it as a standard bike computer to check distance, average speed, top speed, elevation etc.

Later in the summer, I do plan to drive my bike to some interesting and new riding spots and then get out and ride. I expect the maps will be of greater benefit then.

My Garmin 500 has been having issues and it might be time to replace the head. I would like to purchase something that is compatible with the cadence sensor and heart monitor. I don't really feel like I need maps, so wondering if I should purchase another 500 or if the Touring has better features/performance than the 500. I assume it is newer technology. Or perhaps the 510.

Any comments from users of several Garmins?

I'm planning to buy this one in the next coming two weeks.
(since I have no time to ride at the moment... )

As what I'm searched for, the features look great for a recreational biker :)
Can't wait to see my results yet in Garmin Connect :)
