So I was looking at the abus mini 40 and the abus granit futura 64 mini. The 40 has a security rating of 10 or 11, and the 64 has an 11. This seems like it might be decieving, however, because when you look at the rating of the 64 it is out of a 20 possible rating, and the 40 is out of only 15, so even if the mini 40 only has a rating of 10, it would make it much stronger considering the total possible security. Can someone confirm/deny this? Does this make sense? I just don't know why they would have different possible potential security ratings- it leaves no basis for comparison, unless they just want to decieve people into thinking their expensive lightweight lock is more secure than it really is.

Abubs granite and kyprto locks from a picking aspect are insanely good, both would be fine, both should deters all but pro thief's as you are gonna need a huge pair of cutters but likely a grinder and mulipal discks to get through them.

But personly as a fellow cyclest and a guy interested in locksport just get a cheap lock not dirt cheap btput cheap one, and a cheap beater bike that it doest matter if it gets stolen and keep the pride and joy for ridding not chores/shopping.

As a thife will get your bike if he wants it no matter what you do, and if he some how can't get it he will steak anything not locked down like saddles pedals anything he can undo with manual tools.

He might even just for good measure to purely anoy you slash your tires, a member of my club had a attempted theft he came out to find his lock smashed and gouged up but intact and the person obviously gave up after not being able to steal it and decided out of spite to slash his tires.....

So I would just use a beater for town,
