I've got the SP PD8 and after almost 6 months it's been trouble free. I am going to get the PV8 soon for a road bike. The only place I've seen them for sale is Ebay and the price is usually about $130 shippped from Taiwan.

Only available on eBay. I have the PD8, I like it more than my shimano, it rolls very well. The PV8 is just a PD8 without the iso disc mount, and 20 grams lighter. I'm using the pd8 on a road bike without disc brake at the moment but a few years down the road I foresee myself going the disc route.

I have been using my PV8 for about a year now. I really like it. It has been maintenance free. This is my first dynamo hub so I have nothing to compare it too.
The only issue I had was building up the hub. The spoke holes were not staggered. They were directly across from one another. When I finished building the hub, half of the spoke were a bit longer. Not a real issue, but something to look out for.
I got mine on Ebay as a set with a front and rear light (Philips Saferide and ring of fire).
The only question I still have is how long will it go? I am pretty sure the bearings are not replaceable.

Mine built up fine. Probably the easiest wheel build to date. It could be that I only have built 4 or 5 sets in my life and had just finished another build a few weeks before I built this one and didn't have to relearn the whole process again. I just checked and my spokeholes are staggered. Could be they corrected this on later runs. Mine are just short of 6 months old.
