iPhone app that allows custom turn by turn directions?

iPhone app that allows custom turn by turn directions?
Does anyone know of an iPhone app that will let me create a custom route (either through the app or a website) and then load the route up on the phone for turn by turn directions? I know some high end Garmins do this, but I'd prefer to purchase an app rather than a whole new device. Most of my routes are pretty easy to follow but there are some where I'd really benefit from having the support of turn by turn directions.

$160 Garmin will do this, BTW.
Google maps will give you visual and spoken turn by turn directions. "Custom" is a little more complicated but I think you can google "custom routes in google maps" for ideas.
Remember that battery life is seriously affected by GPS always on. Also smartphone displays aren't so easily seen in bright sunlight.

*UPDATE* Looks like you are right that the cheaper Garmin's do provide turn-by-turn navigation, just in a much more simple way. I'd still like to know if there's an iPhone app that does something similar, as I'd much prefer to spend a few bucks on an app than $130 on an Edge.
