Some LOCUS ( app ) feedback
Since I've already commented here or there about the Locus app I figured I might as well continue and update as I travel the learning curve of the app.
So far I'm pretty much happy. I've got on-line maps and off-line maps. I've got some great "Map display options". Using the "Drop box" option I can now more easily transfer maps and saved routes from my other favorite on-line mapping sites.
I did have a few quarks that did give me pause. One was how the on-line maps load when moving. I think If I start the map in a wider area and then zoom in after the map is loaded I don't experience blank areas while riding. I've mentioned this to the locus people and they seem to think it is a server problem with the map site but that remains to be seen. Using the strategy I mentioned I don't seem to have a big problem but so far I've only been using it in my car. Need I say a bike moves more slowly than a car so I don't think delays with the loading of on-line maps is going to be a continuing issue.
I did have a problem with the map "shaking" while using the "map rotate" feature. The locus people suggested changing a particular setting on the map and once again everything is fine.
The locus website is very helpful and the people there are quick to respond to questions and suggestions. Not that I'm giving the app a ringing endorsement, it is very tedious to work with. Patience is required when figuring out all the cool options. If I see no other problems in the next couple weeks I will likely upgrade to the Locus Pro ( which will add a bunch of other cool options..:thumb: )
