Today I am a bit disappointed with my Garmin 510

This weekend I traveled with friends to Solvang and the Santa Ynez Valley for two days of riding. Saturday I had a great ride; rode 55 miles which included some PRs on a few segments (including Foxen Canyon). Sunday we all rode pretty hard and I thought that I had picked up at least a couple other PRs. But when I went to d/l my data, the results were all wrong. The distance/time/average speed for Sunday's ride were right, but there no segments showing and the map did not show the full route that we rode. Also, the sufferfest score of 326 is all wrong. With 4 stents recently placed on my coronary arteries, a sufferfest score of 326 would have probably killed me.

Don't get me wrong, I had a great time: great riding in a beautiful setting, fantastic food, and awesome friends to ride with. Still, it would have been nice to graphically see how well I did on Sunday's ride. Oh well...

Has anyone had a similar experience with their Garmin 500/510? Any fixes?

Thanks.

I had a glitch earlier this year riding in the basement where I forgot to reset the counter from the previous day's ride. It listed my ride as being about 24 hours long and assumed my HR was the same for that entire time. For some reason even when I press stop while riding indoors with GPS disabled, it counts my breaks as riding time.

On my 500 one ride following a course it would stop recording when it thought I was off course. Which was quite often.

You might check out the official Garmin Users' forums at https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?363-Edge-510 to get help and answers to questions from (and generally commiserate with) other owners.

Did it truncate your data? I have only ever had that issue once with my 500 and never with my 800. There are websites out there who will repair your FIT file for you if you care about it enough to pay.

One thing you can do with strava is look at the bottom of the segment list - there's a little hyperlink that reads "Don't see the segment you're looking for" and strava will show you a list of segments that are close to where you are riding. You may be able to figure out why it didn't grab them.

I do have that issue with a segment I created near my house - it shows up for me but not my wife or son. I don't think it's private because I can find it when I do the missing segment trick but no dice, even if we all ride it at the same time.
