Stages coupon?

Progressing through the order process for a stages power meter, I see a big button for "coupon." I'm not one to have to have a deal on everything, but I also hate to be the only one who doesn't know how get the deal. Is the coupon button just a default order form feature, or are there coupons in, say, magazines or email newsletters?

Lots an lots of e-commerce sites have a field for "coupon" and yet there are no coupons to put in this field.

And there's more than a few that have this field, and they regularly use it. For those sites, a little time spent googling can find coupons that will save you some money. So if you're making a significant purchase on a web site and see the coupon field ... it's often worth your time to do a little googling for "site-name coupon".

Some sites have one-time-use coupons that they mail customers on their mailing lists -- you generally don't find these in online searches (or if you do, they don't work, having already been used) and some will send you such a coupon just for signing up to their mailing list.

There's a browser extension called "Honey" that has a central database of coupons for popular sites and will remind you for these sites that it has coupons and offer to try them for you. It probably won't help you on this site, whatever it is, but it might help on some others.

Thank you very much for a thoughtful response. It was my thought also, that some time spent researching on a major purchase might yield savings, especially since it's a market with which I am unfamiliar. I searched with Google, and looked through a couple of issues of Bicycling and VeloNews, checked the Stages Facebook and Twitter feeds, and signed up for the newsletter. I'm fairly certain at this point that I won't be the only one paying full price. Some of my other activities have merchants who periodically circulate online coupons for a certain percentage off, or free shipping, and sometimes if you don't ask you won't find the Easter egg.
